Geology Walk
A busy day visiting three sites of Permian magnesian limestone around Sunderland and Seaham. Student-led, we had to open our eyes and figure the rocks out for ourselves. A lot of sharing of knowledge, ideas and questions. A great little band of happy learners; would certainly do it again.
Yorkshire Sculpture Park Visit
'I'd just like to say that it was a perfect day out enhanced by talking to Explore members in an informal way about the Hepworth, Moore and Caro exhibits. A lovely way of finding out what appeals to different people and why and also figuring out what the artists were inspired by and what they wanted to communicate through their work.'

Nenthead Mine Visit
Exploring the lead-mining heritage of the North Pennines - history, geology, archaeology. A small group of intrepid Explorers visited 'parts the normal visitors don't reach', having a once in a lifetime experience provided by the wonderful volunteers of the Nenthead Mines Conservation Trust.
